Another blizzard…

While most people down south are enjoying warm spring weather, we are going through another blizzard.  Yup, so much for spring coming early this year to Baker Lake and the Snow Buntings predicting an early spring (see previous post on early spring prediction)!

The last blizzard we had was about 25 days ago, but this one appears to be the worst blizzard since moving to Baker Lake.  It’s not the cold from the blizzard that’s bad, but the wind that is gusting up to 100 km/h from the north and the lack of visibility. The wind is blowing snow right through our door cracks and into our back entrance way!!  We had up to 20 inches of snow in one hour and had to shovel the snow from inside our house out!!  How is that for weird?  And the snow is building up again!  Our front porch has about 4 feet of snow and continues to grow.  It’s going to be interesting to see how much snow we’ll have by the end of tonight and how much shovelling we’ll have to do tomorrow, or maybe the next day as the weather forecast is predicting a blizzard warning until tomorrow afternoon.  Also, our apartment walls and roof are shaking from the wind!!

We spent the day hunkering down watching lots of movies.  Rob also read up on how to improve and upgrade our boat, Blue Tale, while Sophia developed a new pattern for a winter jacket and cut out the material. – Rob and Sophia
